Na de succesvolle Thunderbolt-versie van de Clarett-serie audio-interfaces, komt Focusrite nu met een USB-iteratie van de Clarett. Dit maakt hem toegankelijk voor Windows-gebruikers. Bovendien beschikt hij over de USB-C interface, inclusief de respectievelijke kabels. De bandbreedte is hiermee zelfs hoger dan de Thunderbolt-voorganger. De 2Pre bezit, zoals de naam suggereert, 2 analoge, gecombineerde XLR/jack-ingangen die over twee Clarett mic preamps met ultralage noise (-128 dB EIN) beschikken. Ook kun je hier instrumenten met hoge output elementen inprikken. Daarnaast bezit hij, net als zijn voorganger, 4 line outputs, MIDI in/out en een ADAT input. Dit betekent dat wanneer je de 2Pre aansluit op een externe preamp je kunt beschikken over maximaal 10 ingangen. Uiteraard beschikt ook de 2Pre USB-versie over de 'Air-enabled' preamps. Wanneer ingeschakeld, recreëer je hiermee de sound van de bekroonde ISA preamp. En dankzij de 24 bit, 192 kHz AD/DA-conversie zijn je opnames glashelder.

Focusrite Clarett 2Pre USB audio-interface
After many years using a Scarlett 2i2 1st gen, this is a huge step up.
Sound wise: Great preamps, low noise, lots of dynamic range and a lower latency.
Installation was super easy and it's great that it can be USB powered with USB-C (less cables and power supply) and all buttons feel solid and quality.

I am using the Clarett 2Pre with Cubase & Studio One on Laptop as well as Logic Pro on Mac. Compatibility is outstanding, lag is close to zero, and the quality is breathtaking. The warmth of the headroom from the pre is especially impressive during audio recordings. The noise from the unit is the lowest I have ever come across (including Scarlett 8, Motu M4 and Air or the pre sonuses across the range) and clipping protection is excellent. No downside I have found so far.

Focusrite Clarett 2Pre USB audio-interface
Ottima interfaccia audio su protocollo USB. Si riescono a raggiongere latenze bassissime nell'ordine dei 2 - 3 ms. La qualità della conversione A/D e D/A è paragonabile a prodotti di fascia di prezzo di gran lunga più elevato. Funziona senza necessità di alimentazione esterna se collegata ad una porta USB 3.0 di tipo C. Consigliata a chi non ha necessità di molti ingressi, sebbene è dotata di ingresso ottico ADAT per aggiungere ulteriori 8 canali in ingresso. Io la uso come interfaccia audio sul computer portatile per suonare live dei VST instrument e, contestualmente, processare il segnale del chitarrista con amp/cabinet simuulator ed altri effetti software: va benissimo!!!!
