Met opgrtrokken wenkbrouwen lees ik hier termen als "topinstrument" en "geweldig instrumentje"...
Ik heb 3 van deze ukelele's (rood, zwart en geel) aangeschaft voor mijn kleinkinderen. Om nog enigzins bruikbare instrumenten te bemachtigen was het noodzakelijk om ter plekke 6 ukuleles te testen, nadat die al door de baliemedewerker voorgesorteerd waren op uiterlijke onvolkomenheden zoals niet volledig afgelakt en loszittende onderdelen. Uiteindelijk is het gelukt om 3 instrumentjes te vinden die ook nog enigzins bespeelbaar en toonvast zijn en voldoende netjes afgewerkt. Vanwege de prijs mag je natuurlijk ook niet anders verwachten, maar houdt er rekening mee dat je een forse kans hebt op een onbruikbaar instrument als je bij aanschaf ter plekke de volgende dingen niet controleert: uiterlijk, laklaag, stevige bevestiging van hals, snaarhoogte ten opzichte van de hals, octaafzuiverheid, toonzuiverheid (rammelen van snaren tegen de fretjes) en de positie van de klankkast-kam.
De kwaliteit van de standaard snaren komt ongeveer overeen met een stuk elastiek. Anderzijds, als je de tijd neemt (inclusief 1 uur wachttijd tot de baliemedewerker vervangende spullen heeft gevonden) op de koop toe neemt en voor een paar Euro een nieuw setje snaren erbij neemt heb je een redelijk instrumentje voor heel weinig geld.

Dit is een goede ukelele om mee te starten. Bij andere reviews las ik dat deze moeilijk te stemmen was. Dat viel nog wel mee bij mij. Het is een top ukelele voor deze prijs. De kleur is prachtig. Het is niet te fel (mosterd geel is de juiste beschrijving van deze kleur). Dit is natuurlijk een beginners instrument, maar echt goede kwaliteit. Deze ukelele is voor jong en oud. De snaren zijn fijn. De ruimte tussen de snaren en het fretboard (de hals) is aangenaam voor beginners. Ik ben erg positief over dit instrument. Het enige nadeel is dat de lak snel krast, maar verder is dit zeker aan te raden.

I bought this ukulele as a gift for a non-musician friend and mainly chose this particular model for the good price and the colour. When it arrived I took it out of the box to check it over and had several issues with it, the main one being that the strings were more than an octave below standard tuning. Tuning it was a nightmare – the tuners are cheap and stiff, it was a long and difficult task to get it tuned and then it wouldn't stay in tune once I got it there, took several days for the strings to stretch and settle down. I think if my friend had gotten this straight out of the box she wouldn't have managed to tune it. The action was really high – standard is around 2.5-3mm but on this instrument it was 6mm. The fret edges were rough and sharp. Definitely had the feeling of a toy instrument, however once tuned I think the sound was okay and the colour is nice. I think it depends what you're looking for – as a novel gift for a friend it was just fine, she was happy with it and I think it's good enough that she can have fun playing it. If you're a beginner looking for their first ukulele or a player looking for an instrument to add to your collection then do not buy this. It's too cheap to be a good instrument for those purposes and you'd be much better off buying something of higher quality.
